Sustainability

The Donnelly Museum has begun work with the South Western Ontario Tourism Corporation (SWOTC) to develop a strategy for sustainable tourism in the region. This project is in the early stages but we are excited to try and improve our relationship with the environment and our community.

One of the first projects we have undertaken with the help of FedDev Ontario South West and SWOTC is replacing the majority of our indoor lighting with energy efficient LEDs.

We are also proudly a fully accessible destination for visitors.

We have taken steps since 2024 to begin re-using copy paper as much as possible, and only purchasing paper made from 100% post-consumer recycled materials. Bathroom tissue and hand-towels are also 100% post-consumer recycled material.

We have made a significant effort to avoid the use of Artificial Intelligence, especially Generative A.I. The ecological impact of generative A.I., not to mention many other related ethical issues, makes it incompatible with the idea of sustainability.
